Hussein Ahmed Abouelkher was born in Mansoura, Egypt, in 1926. After completing his initial studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan,1 in 1944, he began his academic career as a teaching assistant in the same institution in 1946. From 1960 to 1962, he studied graphic design at HFBK Hamburg under Eberhard Troeger, professor for photography (1953-1964).
In an interview with Kandeel Hazem, now a retired professor for graphic design who had been taught by Hussein Ahmed Abouelkher, he mentioned that while studying in Germany, Abouelkher discovered that he had cancer. He decided to suspend his diploma and return to Egypt, where he passed away in 1966.2
